FAQ’s/Links
Q: How many pieces are in an average Puzlet Gem?
A: Puzlet miniature puzzles average 90 pieces
Q: How long does it take to work a Puzlet?
A: It takes an average of 1 and 1/2 hours to assemble a Puzlet for the first time.
Q: What is the age appropriateness for Puzlet Gems?
A: Puzlets are collectible puzzles for adults. The small puzzle pieces may pose choking hazards for small children. Additionally, younger children are more prone to force mis-matched pieces, which can result in damage. For these reasons we recommend Puzlet Gems for ages 16 and up. Parents of younger children may invest at their own discretion.
Q: Do you need a magnifying glass to work a Puzlet?
A: No. Magnifying glasses do add an element of fun, but they are not necessary for people with good eyesight.
Q: Why can’t I buy Puzlet Gems through Retail Outlets?
A: The primary reason Puzlets are not available retail is because they are too costly to manufacture, which makes it prohibitive to include the middle-man in the sales channel. If and when we are able to achieve in-house manufacturing (which is not foreseeable in the near future) we may be able to offer the limited editions through retail channels.
Q: Why are Puzlet Gems sold in limited editions?
A: Due to their individual and artistic cut patterns, and due to the more time laborious methods of cutting wooden puzzles (they are line cut, not stamp cut like cardboard puzzles), they cannot be mass produced. Manufacturing limitations hold us at a maximum of about 2000 puzzles per design, which is still not considered mass production. Puzlets are therefore naturally limited.
Q: What if a piece of my Puzlet Gem ends up broken?
A: Puzlet pieces can be carefully repaired using toothpicks, glue and patience. Because supplies are limited, damaged Puzlets cannot always be replaced, so be prepared to mend if the need arises. We recommend wood glue for wood mends, and acid-free archival rice paste glue to re-adhere face paper. Mini files and sand paper also come in handy when doing wood repairs. Wood repairs are the hardest. Sometimes the only way to restore strength to a piece is to do a mini tongue and groove repair – something a jeweler might be able to achieve.
Q: How many designs have been / will be produced?
A: Our first release included eight designs. Future releases will be dependent on success in the marketplace.
